Improving Access to Digital Video Archives through Informedia Technology

Document Thumbnail

This paper discusses the role of speech recognition in the system and how it is augmented with other technologies. As the video library grew to tens of thousands of stories, new problems of information retrieval emerged. The Informedia-II Project was launched under DLI Phase 2 funding to address these problems, through information visualization coupled with additional metadata, i.e., the derived data about the contents. The paper concludes with an introduction to Informedia-II research directions in the digital video realm.
