The creative application of frequency- and amplitude-modulation to several works of live-performance of electronic music is discussed. The development of semi-automatic electronic procedures for musical performance of one of these works, a widely performed and recently recorded composition which was commissioned under the auspices of the National Endowment of the Arts, is considered in detail.
