Linearization of a Subsonic Electropneumatic Acoustic Generator

Document Thumbnail

An acoustic source has been analyzed and implemented which operates by the release of compressed air through an aperture, the area of which is made to vary with time. The efficiency of this source is one order of magnitude larger than that of an electrodynamic loudspeaker. The source is nonlinear but a method of linearization, based on a predistortion processor, has been successfully developed. The possibility of using this source as a robust secondary actuator for active noise control is also investigated.
