This paper addresses the effectiveness of some simple receiver processing options for enhancing the clarity of the speech content of television sound. The general technique will apply to any situation where reproduced speech needs to be listened to under difficult acoustic conditions, so other applications may be found in the signal processing for public address or communication systems.
