Measurements of Logatom Intelligibility in the Digital Chains with Delta Modulation Coding

Document Thumbnail

This paper presents the results of measurements of speech intelligibility in the digital telecommunication channels with delta modulation coding. Our research included comparative subjective measurements carried out with a traditional intelligibility test and a new fully automatic, modified intelligibility test with forced choice (MIT-FC). The experiments were performed for various codecs and channel capacities and with white additive noise introduced in digital channel between coder and decoder. The results proved that both tests rank the investigated channels consistently and it is possible to predict or recalculate MIT-FC to traditional test scores and vice versa.
