Array Technology for Discrimination Between Specular and Non-Specular Reflections in Enclosed Spaces

Document Thumbnail

The reflections at the boundaries of enclosed spaces can be distinguished into specular and non-specular reflections. With the aid of techniques based on measurements of impulse responses along arrays of microphones, these two classes of reflections can be distinguished and separated. The criteria for discrimination are based on the differences in "fire time" of the secondary sources which represent the reflections, appearing as differences in the shapes of the measured wave fronts.
