Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is a mature, well-deployed Internet protocol used for controlling and monitoring components within a network infrastructure. This paper introduces SNMP and its command set. The associated Management Information Base (MIB) is also explained. The authors have applied SNMP to the control and monitoring of audio devices. A tour of the authors' implementation is given.
