Frequency dependent hybrid stereo microphone technique is a method of separately recording intensity and timing information using two stereo microphone arrays and then electrically combining the signals together to create a stereo signal for reproduction over stereo loudspeakers. The component pairs of a hybrid array were tested for localization accuracy to verify whether a frequency dependent hybrid technique resulted in a more stable localization of sound images than conventional coincident and spaced techniques. The results show a useful agreement between the spatial transfer functions of a coincident array (>700 Hz) and a spaced array (<700 Hz).
