An Efficient HRTF Model Based on Interference from Delayed Energy

Document Thumbnail

This paper demonstrates that the spectral features in the head-related transfer function (HRTF) are created by interference from clearly identifiable delayed energy. By extracting the characteristics of the delayed energy from measured HRTFs, and approximating them individually, a simple, extremely efficient model of the HRTF is constructed, suitable for parameterization. Physical origins of delayed energy are also discussed.
