Subwoofers in Small Listening Rooms

Document Thumbnail

Subwoofers have become very popular especially in home sound systems, yet, however, they are not much used in professional facilities. Several opinions, and recommendations concerning the use of subwoofers in small rooms are offered. A more comprehensive approach is suggested, and explained briefly. Acoustic transfer functions are recommended to be computed, and measured. Preferably the acoustic transfer impedance functions for selected locations of sound sources and listeners should be used as the performance criterion of small listening rooms at low frequencies.
