The distribution of multichannel sound in digital television applications is simplified by the development of an audio coding system that is organized in video frame time intervals, is intrinsically editable, is capable of many tandem generations, and transports up to eight channels on an AES3 interface. Details of the algorithm design are given to demonstrate the design of this functionality.
