The high data rates of digital television signals impose particular demands on the design of server-based processing systems. One promising approach is to distribute the data storage and processing modules over a number of systems interconnected with an information technology (IT) network. This paper describes an architecture based on CORBA for distributing modules and allowing their seamless interconnections.
