The Swedish Broadcasting Corporation has evaluated perceptual codecs for a national digital network. An objective perceptual model, called PAQM, was used as an aid for evaluating audio quality. This paper gives some results from the measurements and discusses their interpretation. It is also shown that the use of a perceptual codec to feed an FM transmitter may have implications concerning deviation.
