This paper presents an alternative form of diffusion structure based on absorption reflection gratings. The theory, design, advantages, and limitations of these structures are discussed, and the simulation results of their performance are presented. Methods of extending and improving performance are also shown. The paper shows that low-frequency diffusing structures that take up less space than phase reflecting ones are possible.
