This paper presents a method of calculating a figure of merit for diffusion structures based on the integrated ratio of energy scattered at any given angle to the total scattered energy. The theory of the measurement, reasoning, advantages, and limitations are discussed. Simulation results confirming its utility are presented. The implication of the method for acoustic design is also discussed.
