The method of interpolating between wavetables is a very cost-effective one for synthesis of quasi-harmonic sounds. This paper describes four methods for selecting wavetables and interpolation functions for achieving close fits to time-varying spectra of musical sounds. The methods vary in their amenability for analysis, convenience of use, and scope of application.
