Sound Enhancement by Wave Field Synthesis: Adaptation of the Synthesis Operator to the Loudspeaker Directivity Characteristics

Document Thumbnail

The wave field synthesis concept is applied to reinforcement of direct sound. In its original form the discretized Rayleigh integral, which forms the synthesis operator, prefers the use of planar arrays of dipole-type loudspeakers, which is not very practical. It is shown that the directivity characteristics can be used to generate a reinforced wave with natural properties in time and space.
