A multiband/multirate analysis framework for loudspeaker and other audio system responses is proposed, based on perfect reconstruction filter bank and wavelet methods. This analysis gives variable frequency resolution and allows efficient parametrization of the response via Prony modeling. The perceptually significant response components can also be isolated. A : deconvolution method applied to such band-limited response components is also introduced.
