A digital tone control with linear phase was implemented in a 24-bit DSP. The problems of implementing the bass control filter were solved using multirate techniques, allowing the algorithm to work in a low-cost DSP without using all of its processing power. This tone control is well suited for high-fidelity digital audio amplifiers, since the tone equalization is done in the digital domain without phase distortion and has good frequency resolution.
