A video conference room in Sydney was to have an unusual requirement-a table seating twelve people who face each other, rather than the usual everybody faces the wall of monitors and cameras which is the norm for video conference systems. A problem with this layout is that the normal video follow audio technique used for camera switching would not work, as the participants and microphones would be too close to each other for clear discrimination. This paper describes the solutions used to produce the desired result. It involves a combination of custom microphones designed and produced in Australia, custom electronics, and some clever programming by the contractor.:
