This paper presents the findings of a newly formed work group of the IASig on interactive audio authoring and playback. Two levels of interactive functionality will be defined. A basic or intra-stream level describing real-time manipulation of sequences or tracks that does alter the data within the stream, and an inner-stream level that describes the manipulation of note, rhythm, and dynamics data within a stream.
