Causes of Nonlinear Compression Driver Distortions and Their Audibility

Document Thumbnail

The sensitivity of human hearing with respect to nonlinear distortions has to be investigated in order to focus on the development of loudspeakers, particularly on the sources of the most audible distortions. By means of digital signal processing, a filter system has been designed to show the inverse transfer characteristic of a horn loaded compression driver loudspeaker. This filter system was used for producing defined distortions to determine the thresholds of hearing for three dominant nonlinear distortion causes.
