Perception of Amplitude Modulation in Harmonic Complexes

Document Thumbnail

The results of research on the perception of amplitude modulation for single components in harmonic complexes are presented. The experiment was done for multitones containing 3, 5, and 9 components with 256 Hz as a fundamental frequency; and 2-, 70-, and 200-Hz sinusoids were the modulating signals. It turned out that slow changes in amplitude of components did not influence the AM perception. For higher modulating frequency, AM perception depends significantly on the number of modulated content.
