This paper describes research on the effect an applied delay of support microphones in multimicrophone recording technique has on the reproduction of classical music. The research involves various pieces of music recorded digitally at Danmarks Radio with different delay magnitudes. The result of a subjective test based on the naturalness of two-channel stereo sound then suggests an optimal delay magnitude depending on the position of the microphone.
