Modern recording consoles commonly feature a dynamics section in every channel. A digital console has a potential sound quality advantage due to the avoidance of analog gain control elements. However, issues relating to sampling need to be addressed in order to realize this performance. The paper explores these problems and offers solutions as implemented in a practical design.
