Analysis of Dissonances in Carillon Chords

Document Thumbnail

The sound quality of the carillons deserves special attention, as carillon music has a large, sometimes involuntary audience. Particular carillon chords, although from well-tuned bells, produce more or less dissonant sounds. A performed computer analysis of such chords shows origins of dissonances and characterizes their properties. Some possible solutions leading to an improvement of quality of carillon chords are presented.
