A formal blind listening test was carried out on four commercially available ISO/MPEG Layer II audio codecs for use in a nationwide radio network. The codecs were tested using the different bit rates with and without cascading. The statistical analysis shows that there are audible differences between codecs, in particular when cascaded. A minimum bit rate for contribution is also recommended.
