A five-band digital equalizer with linear phase was implemented in a 24-bit DSP. A multirate tree filterbank not maximally decimated was used to reduce the required processing power. Taking advantage of certain filter symmetries and with careful filter design, a very efficient algorithm was implemented. The frequency resolution of this equalizer is better than the analog counterparts. The listening tests show good results.
