Relation Between Logatom Intelligibility and SNR Enhanced Speech

Document Thumbnail

In this paper the results of the subjective measurements of logatom intelligibility of enhanced speech (published in the Polish language), by means of the method explored by Chen and O'Shaughnessy (1991), with filtering properties of function of spectral lateral inhibition (FSLI), are presented. The measurements were made for logatom lists degraded by white noise with SNR in the range (-10 dB, 10 dB). The research shows that the enhancement of noisy speech by means of the lateral inhibition method in the above range increased the logatom intelligibility from 4% to 14% on the average.
