Considerations on the Performance of Filter Design Methods for Wavelet Packet Audio Decomposition

Document Thumbnail

The paper considers wavelet packet decompositions which theoretically provide a flexible tiling of the time-frequency plane. When digital implementations of these kinds of schemes are applied to analyze finite-length audio signals, a great amount of undesirable features may appear. The aim of the present work is to describe these effects and identify the phenomena that cause them. Moreover, the influence of these phenomena on the basis of function behavior is analyzed.
