The main loss of Class A is the integrated product of the quiescent current IQ and the collector-to-emitter voltage Vce. The efficiency can be increased by reducing either Vce or IQ. The paper proposes a high-efficiency Class-A amplifier developed by reducing Vce using a variable power supply. Simulation results of efficiency and distortion are 69% and 0.0024%, respectively.
