Multichannel audio signals (3/2, 3/1, or similar formats) imply complex signal relations as level ratios, balance, phase conditions and correlation, which cannot be detected easily by listening only. To improve the principles of the well-know gonimeter (Lauridsen) for two-channel stereophony, a method for visual monitoring of multichannel audio signals is presented. It visualizes such relations in a real-time mode on a video display.
