Sound Field Format to Binaural Decoder with Head Tracking

Recent research at Lake has resulted in a new method for decoding ambisonic B-format representations of sound fields to a form suitable for playback over headphones. The method allows continuous, smooth head tracking in all angles. This paper explains the basic operation of the system and its applications in recording studios, architectural acoustics (auralization), and virtual reality (3-dimensional simulation).
