A system has been developed to automatically calibrate the loudspeaker position and gains of a multidimensional loudspeaker array used for recreating sound fields. Setting up and optimizing a loudspeaker array is simplified by eliminating the need for accurate loudspeaker position measurement. The system achieves accurate time alignment of the loudspeakers leading to an improved and more realistic sound field. Some preliminary work on loudspeaker equalization has been incorporated into the system.
