A simple nonfeedback power output stage for use with 20-kHz bandwidth fully digital pulse-width modulators is described. Although the circuit is very straightforward, the performance is surprisingly good. Distortion figures are low enough to suggest that a fully digital modulated amplifier without use of global feedback around the power output stage is feasible.
