The paper presents further investigations on the new concept of noise reduction. A perceptual coding scheme was employed to this task, extended with an artificial intelligence algorithm. The fuzzy logic algorithm was employed, and its parameters were adjusted for automatic control of the masking threshold. The intelligent updating of that threshold was performed according to the characteristics of noise taken from an unmodulated groove of a record and estimated distribution of noise components in consecutive frames of the record.
