The paper focuses on two aspects of musical instrument modeling: 1) separation of the excitation and resonator and 2) modeling of performance parameters, such as tremolo (AM) or vibrato (FM). The authors have analyzed each harmonic of the musical instrument signal by band-pass filtering with a Gabor filter and then by demodulating the AM and FM components with an energy separation algorithm.
