Current approaches and the utility of diffusers in controlling early reflections are reviewed. Simple theoretical models are used to predict the affect of diffusers on early reflection energy and on time-frequency responses of early reflections. Simulations of the beneficial effect of diffusion on early reflections showed that it is consistent over a broader listening area than other techniques.
