This paper reviews the technology currently applied for real-time audio transmission over the Internet and the problems and solutions of Internet audio delivery. An overview of the Internet communications protocols, architectures, and audio delivery applications is included. Security and copyright issues are also briefly discussed. Finally, the HUT DIVA project network audio experiments are described.
