Objective Audio Signal Evaluation-Applied Psychoacoustics for Modeling the Perceived Quality of Digital Audio

Document Thumbnail

The daily use of perceptual audio coding arises the need of new measurement schemes. These new techniques have to incorporate also knowledge from psychoacoustics and of cognitive aspects of perception. In this paper the new measurement scheme OASE (Objective Audio Signal Evaluation) is presented which offers an improved temporal and frequency resolution. This leads to a more precise modeling of the human perception. The algorithm uses a multirate structure leading to a moderate complexity.
