Since the consumer audio world is becoming increasingly digital, the need for powerful, highly integrated and cost-effective processing platforms is growing steadily. SAHARA is the name of such a multi-processor digital signal processing system on a single piece of silicon incorporating 2 DSPs, 5 ADCs, 4 DACs, a 16-bit CISC microcontroller, an 8-bit RISC microcontroller and numerous digital interfaces. This paper describes architecture and typical applications.
