Disc Technology for Super Quality Audio Applications

Document Thumbnail

Hybrid disc technology is provided by two substrates, one containing a high density layer and the other containing a CD layer. The information side of the high density substrate is bonded to the non-information side of the CD substrate. The two layers are read via the same surface. The distance from the read-out surface to the High Density layer is 0.6mm and the distance from the read-out surface to the CD layer is 1.2mm. The CD layer is read-out through the high-density layer. This novel design ensures full playback compatibility with the installed base of the CD players.
