An important part of sound quality is to measure the subjective perceptions of sound via listening tests. A number of listening test methods are discussed, paired comparison, semantic differential, rank order, and rating scales. Examples from automotive sound quality are used to support these discussions. The paired comparison and semantic differential methods have proven to be the most successful.
