Non-linearities in communication networks introduce time-varying distortions which must be assessed over extended periods. We describe an experiment designed to elucidate rules for the accumulation of subjective speech quality opinions. Results show a link between Mean Opinion Scores for sentences and corresponding scores for longer passages, with implications for the design of objective measurement tools providing predictions of subjective quality.
