A simple sampled data model is presented which usefully approximates the nonlinear distortion introduced in a pulse width modulation digital-to-analogue converter. It is derived from an infinite model whose output complex spectrum exactly matches that of the modulator up to half the sampling frequency. An oversampled audio example illustrates the quality of the approximation.
