Typical timber-framed domestic listening rooms with reflective (gypsum board) walls were analyzed for acoustic improvements. The acoustic characteristics were measured in conjunction with subjective estimates for speech and music quality. The improvements from the absorption treatment (walls, ceilings, corners) correcting the early reflections and the room modes were evaluated by audio specialists and home listeners. Room acoustic characteristics (RT, EDT, early to late energy ratios, background noise levels, room modes), results of subjective tests, and statistical analysis data are reported.
