Under the auspices of Vision 1250, several units for HDTV production, editing, and presentation, and a master control unit, have been produced. The audio designer had to work with existing equipment and with nonexisting practical standards. This paper describes the solutions used for the sound recording medium, audio monitoring, and the final control area. Some compatibility problems as well as sound quality considerations are discussed.
