Subjective Perception of Speech Loudness and Intelligibility at 50 dB(A) Ambient Noise Level of a Speech Hall: Modelling Approach

Document Thumbnail

Research has been conducted by the authors to investigate the subjective perception of speech loudness and intelligibility at 50 dB(A) ambient noise level. The linear and nonlinear mathematical models were investigated to find the most adequately fitted model to represent the data. Using the most adequately fitted model, the predicted signal-to-noise ratio at ambient noise level, which is subjectively being perceived as the most comfortable loudness level and provide good speech intelligibility has also been determined. The statistical analysis of the data gathered using SAS package such as correlation coefficients, variates mean value, 95% confidence interval, and t-test will also be discussed.
