Multi-Purpose White Noise Source

Document Thumbnail

White noise has a large number of applications in both industry and research. Industrially it is used to drive shaker tables, in spectrum analysis devices and a number of testing instruments of various kinds. White noise generators are equally popular in research work, particularly in the biological and physiological sciences where the randomness of the signal is useful in producing random intervals, masking sounds, and perhaps most widely publicized of all, for use in anesthesia during minor operative procedures such as dental work, painful innoculation and the changing of dressings.
