Error Concealment for DSB: Impact on Channel and Source Coding

Document Thumbnail

For the design of cost-effective digital audio systems, the international accessible standard ISO 11172-3 Layer-I/II is presently integrated in many applications in order to reduce the bit rate by as much as possible-particularly in applications such as terrestrial and satellite broadcasting and cable networks. But tape recording error concealment can also be incorporated into the system design. In this paper, the impact of error concealment technology on channel and source coding will be discussed in light of their interdependence. Future adaption of error concealment to multichannel systems will be described as well.
